François-Xavier Balme is a Doctor in Law (Ph.D) and a lawyer since 2011. He practices all areas of transport law and has developed a particular practice in maritime litigation, ship seizure and transport and charter contracts. He accompanies industrialists, shipowners and insurers.
Thanks to his university education and professional practice in leading international law firms, François-Xavier has great knowledge in French and English transport law, and is very familiar with the shipping industry.
François-Xavier has also developed expertise in complex litigation of construction law, where he intervenes for both contractors and builders.
François-Xavier is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA), Chairman of the Youth Section of AIDA, Chairman of the International Construction Club (ICC) and a member of the French Association of Maritime Law (AFDM).
Holder of a Doctorate of State in Law (University Paris I – Pantheon Sorbonne), he is graduated from the Master 2 of Insurance Law of Paris I and holds an LL.M International Business and Economic Law from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) of Sydney. He is also the author of numerous articles on maritime and transport law, and hosts numerous conferences and seminars in these fields.
